Now, how are you going to decide which you want as the backdrop in your wedding photos? There are so many iconic vistas to choose from!
Ultimately, you’ll need to choose one or two spots from your options — because you want to be enjoying your wedding with your guests, not tromping around the woods for hours on end! If we aimed to get in all the gorgeous locations, we’d be gone all day!
Usually, by simplifying it this way, one of these three we clearly ping in your heart. How does each one make you feel? Which of these three landscapes brings you the most bliss, or feels most significant in your partnership?
We get asked all the time where the best spots are for photos, either for the First Look or the wedding party shots. Of course, we have plenty of suggestions and favourite spots up our sleeves — so we’ll share some of them with you here, to help you make up your mind.
Meadow Park, where we can perfectly see both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Expansive and tasteful, Meadow Park is located on the banks of the River Golden Dreams — a location just as enchanting as it sounds.
Rainbow Park is another great park location, with similar expansive mountain views, but is located on Alta Lake. Both these spots are very accessible, if anyone in your party has mobility issues.
Or, if you decide you want some truly iconic mountain views, you and your sweetie can fully immerse yourselves with a private helicopter to a peak. This way you get to be fully in the mountains, not just looking at them. Some truly breathtaking photoshoots happen up there!
Alternatively (and more accessible), we can also take the gondola up the mountain, which results in big, gorgeous views in every direction.
There are over 30 lakes in the Sea to Sky corridor — and each of them brings their own special something. At some, it’s the exquisite colour of the water. For others, it’s a perfect dock. At another, it might be the expansive view in the distance.
Your photographer will have some fabulous recommendations, of course, based on what qualities you’re looking for at your lake location. The decision may also be based on what’s closer to the wedding venue, simply for logistics and efficiency.
We love a good forest photoshoot — in fact, our founder Anastasia actually prefers them! This is because no matter the weather or the time of day, the lighting in the woods is always somehow magically perfect. The way it shifts through the trees makes for some absolutely stunning photos.
There are other benefits to a forest photoshoot, too: it’s nice and shady, providing cool relief (especially for the men in suits!) if your wedding is on a hot day.
There also tends to be a lot more privacy in the mystical forest nooks we’ll find, which means you get to avoid the tourist crowds that are often at Whistler’s more popular spots.
Truly, there isn’t a best forest, lake, or mountain view: they’re all spectacular in their own unique way. Your Whistler Wedding Collective photographer will also come equipped with plenty of local knowledge and insight to help you decide.
What matters is that you make the choice that’s best for you — based on your wedding logistics and timing, and ultimately, how certain places make your heart feel.
